As-Salaam Alaikum! (Peace be Unto You!)
In the field of Scientology, there is a Concept known as “A-R-C”, which stands for…
“Affinity” (liking, or willingness to interact with),
“Reality” (agreement between two or more entities on what is real, true, important, necessary, etc.),
and “Communication” (exchange of ideas, toward the goal of producing Oneness, or Agreement).
Mr. L. Ron Hubbard discovered and demonstrated that these three principles – Affinity, Reality and Communication – are INTER-dependent, meaning that as one goes, so go the others. If REALITY is raised between two or more people or groups, that increase will have the effect of raising the AFFINITY and COMMUNICATION between them as well. Likewise, if COMMUNICATION is decreased, that will have the effect of decreasing AFFINITY and REALITY!
A “relationship” can be described as “the manner in which two or more entities interact with, affect, and are affected by, one another.” In this light, it can easily be shown that everything in the Universe is in some type of “relationship” with everything in the Universe. However, the MOST SIGNIFICANT relationship is that which exists between the CREATOR of the Universe, and His Creation! All other relationships depend on alignment with this Prime Relationship for their success. In other words, ALLAH (GOD) in His Creation of the Universe and everything in it (including YOU and ME), established the LAW by which ALL “relationships” may be Successful, so that LIFE may be Sustained and Evolved.
When dealing with HUMAN BEINGS, the concept of “relationships” takes on a much deeper meaning, since Human Beings are INTELLIGENT Beings…and SENTIENT Beings…in constant pursuit of higher and higher levels of Survival. The more harmonious our “relationships”, the more capable we are of Surviving, and the more Satisfied we are with Living.
The Question, then, could be asked, “How do human beings harmonize their relationships?” This question opens the door for consideration of the Principle of “A-R-C”. Let’s begin with what Mr. L. Ron Hubbard described as the more significant of the three – “Communication”.
How important is “Communication” in a relationship? It is through Communication that “Reality” – agreement on what is “real, necessary, important, etc.” – is established, and “Affinity” is developed. Of course, it goes without saying that such Communication must be HONEST and TRUTHFUL, geared toward “agreement”. Anything that corrupts or inhibits “communication”, likewise reduces “Reality” and “Affinity”. By the same token, anything which reduces “Reality” and “Affinity” can have a chilling effect on “Communication”.
For Example:
Jack and Jill are in a committed “relationship”. That is to say, they have committed to help each other to survive. As such, they must remain in good “communication”, in order for them to feel good about interacting with each other (“affinity”), and for their vision for the future (“reality”) to be accomplished.
If “another person” comes along, and whispers something “negative” about Jack in Jill’s ear, this can damage the “REALITY” between Jack and Jill (if she is inclined to BELIEVE it), as well as Jill’s “AFFINITY” for Jack. Naturally, this could result in a significant decrease in “COMMUNICATION” between Jack and Jill…simply because the “reality” (agreement) between the “other person” and Jill became greater than the “reality” between JACK and Jill.
Or, JACK might make the colossal mistake of INVALIDATING a Concern of Jill’s, using “Communication” in a way that makes Jill feel that he doesn’t think too much of her, or her feelings. This will invariably reduce Jill's “Affinity” for Jack, as well as her desire to "Communicate" with him; and could damage the “Reality” between them.
In both instances, the “relationship” is adversely affected…and possibly dissolved.
How can this be avoided? The answer is relatively simple. The way to maximize any relationship is...
1) to learn the ability to be “honest” and “considerate” when communicating,
2) to learn the value and importance of “acknowledging” the other person’s feelings, point of view, etc., without judging…which requires the desire to LISTEN, and
3) to develop the ability and the willingness to cooperate for the “higher good”, which is the Success of the Relationship…not simply seeking to get one’s “own way”.
When we agree to enter a committed “relationship”, we are agreeing to COOPERATE with another human being, to accomplish a stated purpose. We are agreeing to COMMUNICATE with one another, to Remind, Encourage, Support, Correct one another to ensure the fulfillment of our Purpose for being in the Relationship. If we can manage to do that, then the AFFINITY that we desire will naturally develop.

True Communication

What does it really mean to "Communicate"?
True Communication involves more than just "exchanging words" and "knowing what the words mean". True Communication is the experience of sharing "Beingness" with one another - the experience of exposing and sharing the "Truth of Self" with one another, and complete acceptance of the "Truth of Self" of one another - which leads to the Realization of "Oneness".
In too many instances, however, it seems that most of us use words, not to share the Truth of Self, but to mask, hide or distort the Truth of self - for fear of injury or disapproval - thus hindering real Communication and perpetuating the illusion of "separateness".
Therefore, the first step to True Communication - True Sharing of Beingness - with another, is true Acknowledgement and Acceptance of the Truth of Self; not so much acknowledgement and acceptance of what one has "done" or "experienced", but of WHAT and WHO one IS!
Fear, guilt and shame are barriers to True Beingness, and thus are barriers to true Sharing. A person who is not fully certain and accepting of Self - not fully certain of his (or her) own value - cannot fully Communicate with another.
Take away his (or her) "reasons" for feeling fear, guilt and shame; and he (or she) will communicate freely with any who are willing...and able!
Let us learn and strive to Truly Communicate - with God, with Self, with our Mates, with our Children, with our Friends...and even with our "enemies" - that we may truly Live...and truly Love.

I am among those who have read your recent "Opinion" peace titled "Is Gadhafi's Financing of Farrakhan paying off?", dated 6/22/2011.

I must say, Mr. Hutchinson, that I am at a loss to understand how a man as learned as you could make such inflammatory and irresponsible claims, which include flat out "falsehoods", which offer no proof, and amount to little more than blatant slander/libel through innuendo.
First things first...
Is your view of "right and wrong" in line with GOD's View?
Is your view of MINISTER FARRAKHAN in line with GOD's View?
WHOSE PERSPECTIVE are YOU speaking from...the CREATOR's? Or, the American Propaganda Machine's?
It is CLEAR that you are NOT speaking from a DIVINELY GUIDED perspective, as evidenced by your irresponsible use of language and your erroneous claims. Granted, an "opinion" is just that...an "opinion"; but what is the INTENTION BEHIND your opinion?
The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan held a Press Conference at the UN, which lasted over one and a half hours. During His Message He gave an historical outline of America's shortcomings and misdeeds regarding the treatment of her own citizens, in addition to her wicked, destructive foreign policies abroad.
What part of Minister Farrakhan's "case" against America (which is actually GOD's Case against America) can you rationally deny? Which of the failings and the evils that He mentioned can you say, in truth, "did not happen"? None.
How very juvenile it is of you to try to distract the focus of your readers from the TREMENDOUS VALUE and IMPACT of what the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan expressed to the World regarding the Libyan crisis, by making slanderous, evil SUGGESTIONS intended to damage His credibility.
You want to infect your readers with YOUR perception of Minister Farrakhan...but I wonder, have you considered the cost of such?
Is it not reasonable to first consider the CONSEQUENCES of what we desire to express...BEFORE we express it? Do we not have a RESPONSIBILITY to MAKE SURE that whatever communications or expressions we originate are as factual as possible, since those who are the recipients of our expression are directly affected by the content and quality of what we express?
You want to reduce the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan to the status of some "money hungry rabble rouser"...but for what PURPOSE? What is your motive for writing what you did? Could it be that your "opinion" was GIVEN to you by those who finance YOU?
Is it not possible that Minister Farrakhan GENUINELY CARES for the FATE of HUMANITY??? Is it not Possible that He SEES something of the possible CONSEQUENCES (which you do NOT see) to befall HUMANITY if this current administration continues on its present course, and that he earnestly desires to PREVENT such?
What if the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan is EXACTLY who He says He is...a Warner and a Mercy from GOD? Just consider that possibility for a moment. If He IS a Divinely Appointed Warner from God to THE WORLD...and YOU participate in the SATANIC effort to MISLEAD the People regarding His Identity, His Mission, His Motives, and His Intentions, then WHERE does that place YOU, Mr. Hutchinson, on the scale of God's Favor/Disfavor?
In your wicked attempt to "expose" the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, cannot you see that you are exposing only YOURSELF and your own corrupt "logic" and motives?
In such a DANGEROUS time as this, when Humanity is in need of GUIDANCE, moreso than any need for "gold" or "possessions", What is the VALUE of a Man like the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, who, for over 50 years, has been sounding the alarm to Black People, to America, and to the World, that "the Judgement of this world is at hand...but there is a way out"? Again, what is the VALUE of such a Man?
If the HONORABLE Minister Louis Farrakhan represents "the way out" for our People, and for Humanity, and YOU are among those who desire to turn the people AWAY from Him whom GOD has given to us to show us the way, then, I ask you, Mr. Hutchinson...WHO ARE YOU WORKING FOR? Is it GOD? Or is it SATAN? There is no "middle of the road" here. Whom do you serve? If you say you serve GOD, then what EVIDENCE can you point to, in your actions, to support that claim? If you cannot show forth any WORKS to verify your FAITH in God, then perhaps you are among those whose faith is "dead"..."broken" by the Satanic rulers of this world.
And what do you think will be your "reward", Mr. Hutchinson, for your unjustified "attack" on the Good Name and Character of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan? What have "they" promised you? Nearness to them? Acceptance? Fame? Fortune? Exemption from their persecution of Black People? What have they promised you? Was it "30 pieces of silver"?
Do you think they will keep their promise/bargain?

The Grace of God
While walking down what many would call a “country road” one sunny April afternoon, I happened upon a tree donned with some of the most magnificent blossoms I’ve ever seen. As I walked toward the tree, captivated by its beauty, I noticed it was slowly, almost poetically, raining down a blanket of petals on the earth beneath its well-dressed branches. Shades of white, pink and lavender covered the ground.
So enamored was I with this sight that, for a brief moment, I was tempted to stretch out my body over this little piece of Paradise and let its sweet aroma caress me, enchant me, intoxicate me; and I may well have done so, had I not feared that the poor unknowing owner of the “property” on which this Oasis rested would mistake my attempt to “touch Heaven” for an attempt to give him trouble.
So, I restrained myself and limited my compulsion to simply picking a petal from one of the branches just within my reach. Even so, I couldn’t help but feel I was “stealing” something, like some beggar making away with a morsel of bread to satisfy his hunger; except, it wasn’t bread I was after. It was a piece of Heaven…a piece of God, Himself; and I simply had to have it. I needed it.
As I continued on my way, I looked back to catch one more glimpse of the beauty of that scene, holding the petal I had picked in my hand…and then I walked on toward my destination.
Every two or three steps, I couldn’t resist the urge to hold the petal to my nose – as I walked – and inhale the sweetness of God’s Creation. It was so powerful – yet gentle – a scent that it literally had me walking with my eyes closed! I didn’t want to stop walking, and I didn’t want to be distracted from the sweetness of the experience…so I walked, and inhaled, and closed my eyes, and imagined I was in Paradise.
I thought to myself:
“The Beauty and the Humility of a Flower: She just IS! She does not jump and shout to get you to notice her. She doesn’t have to. The way she “IS” gets your attention without even trying. Her being what God Created her to be makes her irresistibly attractive…to birds, to bees, to Men…to me.
“She doesn’t have to ‘try’ to be beautiful, she just is. Her sweet aroma cannot be duplicated, or mimicked, or mass-produced for profit. She is ‘The Truth’, and any attempt to mimic her would be ‘false’."
She is the Gift of God, not the product of man. She is beautiful. She is subtle, yet powerful. She is a temporary reminder of the Eternal Grace of God, the matchless Beneficence of God, the indescribable Beauty and Love of God; and I am grateful and humbled to have met her…to have ben touched – and my life enhanced – by her.
Even now, I hold the petal in one hand, and write with the other, occasionally raising it to my nose to breath in its Essence, to be reminded that there IS beauty left in this world; that there ARE things worthy of our hope and admiration; that all is NOT lost…because she lives.
Life is Good, and all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.
