Is POLYTHEISM "Evil"?

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful…the Best Knower.

Salaam (Peace) to all.

“Allah has not taken to Himself a son, nor is there with Him any (other) god — in that case would each god have taken away what he created, and some of them would have overpowered others. Glory be to Allah above what they describe…”
–Holy Qur’an 23:91

“Evil” is defined as:
1. morally wrong or bad; immoral; wicked: evil deeds; an evil life.
2. harmful; injurious: evil laws.
3. characterized or accompanied by misfortune or suffering; unfortunate; disastrous: to be fallen on evil days.
4. due to actual or imputed bad conduct or character: an evil reputation.
5. marked by anger, irritability, irascibility, etc.: He is known for his evil disposition.

Scientifically (Mathematically) speaking, “evil” is anything that deviates from the Universal Nature and Order of Creation, as established by the Creator. It is a state or condition of “incorrectness”, to a degree that produces more harm than good.

“Polytheism” is the belief in more than one god that is worthy of worship. Although this is a belief system that is accepted by many peoples and cultures, there is the question of whether or not it is supported by the Natural Order of Creation.

The Law of Cause and Effect shows that every “cause” produces a like “effect”. Conversely, the Nature of “Cause” can be ascertained by a careful study of the Nature of its “effects”.

If the Creator is “Cause”, then Creation would be “effect”.

If there were “many gods” to whom “cause” – and therefore, “Self-Creation” and “Independence” – could be attributed, knowing that no two “causes” can be exactly alike, then multiple independent “causes” (Creators) would produce multiple independent “effects” (creations), which would thus disallow “unity”. “Unity”, by definition, suggests unique, inter-dependent “parts” revolving around a singular Idea or Purpose.

There may exist many “gods”, but only ONE can have the attribute and/or function of “First Cause”, and thus be worthy of worship. The “Lesser” gods act on the Wisdom and Power of the Supreme God, and are thus not worthy of worship, not having the Nature of “Cause” independent of the “First” Cause.

Additionally, if there were multiple Self-Created and Independent Gods – none of them being exactly like any other – then each would have its own unique INTENTION for Its Existence, which would not be compatible with the Unique Intentions of the Other Independent, Self-Created Gods. Thus would each God have to separate from every other God to have space enough to pursue and realize His Own unique Intention without interfering with the other Gods and THEIR Intentions, and without “being interfered with” by Them.

Consequently, each God would have no Knowledge (experience) of the other Gods’ Works (Universes); nor would the Inhabitants of each God’s Universe have any Knowledge (experience) of any other Universe (or the God who Created it), and would thus be bound to the “One God” over that Universe in which they live.

The “evil” (incorrectness) of poly-theism – the belief in “many gods” worthy of worship as “Cause” – is that it undermines the singularity and Intention of “Cause” (God) in the Universe, and it undermines the singularity and Purpose of Creation (effect); both of which are necessary for Life to be conceived and sustained in the midst of random motion.

If the Universe were to be subjected to the doctrine of “multiple independent causes” (poly-theism), It would most certainly be torn apart – each part being carried away with its respective “Independent Cause” (God).

Likewise, if there were multiple “Independent Causes” (Gods), each with Its Own independent reality, then to bring them and their respective realities (universes) together “as one” – in the exact same space and time – would be as effective as trying to completely merge multiple human bodies together in the exact same space and Time. Such effort would destroy the lives of ALL bodies.

Can the Planets revolve around more than ONE Sun?
Can the Human Family live on more than ONE Earth?
Can a Nation revolve around more than ONE Vision?
Can a Child have more than ONE Progenitor (Father)?
Can a Normal Human Body have more than ONE Capita (Head)?

From a scientific standpoint, “poly-theism” is considered “Incorrect” (evil) because it is out of harmony with the Universal Nature and Order of Creation. The whole of the Universal Order – at least that portion that is accessible to us – bears witness to the Oneness of the Creator.

“No religion is worthwhile if its roots are not found in the universal order of things.”
-Hon. Elijah Muhammad

Very interesting. I currently studying religions at school and your post really gives me different perspective. I myself believe in one God but I always believe that in fact all religions in the world worship the same God but in different forms as we have different cultures and such. I always believe that even polytheistic religions worship the one God. It is just their way of interpreting the existence of supreme being beyond human that is different to our understanding. Correct me if I am wrong but it is just my personal opinion. Nice blog anyway. :)
